Kevin Ker
Heading up our Boys 17 and under team this year is Kevin Ker. Kevin was a 3 year Varsity Setter at Valencia High school from 2003-06 where he led the Vikings to two Foothill league titles and two CIF Championships in 2004 and 2006, his Senior year. In 2005, he was a 1st team All-Foothill league member, a Daily News 1st team all-area selection as well as a 1st team All-CIF Selection. In 2006, his Senior year, Kevin led the Vikings to a 34-2 record as well as a 29 match winning streak. He was a 1st team All-foothill League member, a Daily News 1st team all-area selection, and a 1st team All-CIF Selection. He was also honored by Volleyball Magazine as a 1st team All-American.
Kevin also played Club Volleyball for Synergy Volleyball Club from 2001-06. He won a Gold medal (2004), a Silver Medal (2006), and a Bronze Medal (2005) at the Boys Junior Olympics as well as being a 4 time all tournament team selection from 2003-06. Kevin was also named to Volleyball Magazines "Fab 50" list as a Senior.
Kevin continued his Volleyball career at UCLA where he was the starting setter all four years from 2007-2010. In the Summer of 2007 Kevin was selected to the Junior National Team to participate in the World Championships where he traveled to Italy and Morrocco to play against the worlds best. The U.S.A. team finished 7th overall that tournament. Finishing up his UCLA Career, Kevin was selected in 2010 to the MPSF All-Academic Team. In the rally scoring era, Kevin finished #2 on UCLA's Career assists list with 3,173 set assists and tied for first for Career Service Aces with 99.
As a Coach, Kevin has been with Legacy Volleyball Club since its inauguration in 2008. Kevin has been highly succesful on the boys side coaching both the 16's and 17-1's teams in part to making a name for Legacy in the most competitive boys region in the United States. Kevin is currently coaching the 17-1's team and has been for the past 2 years. He coached both of his 17's teams to finished 9th (2010) and 10th (2011) place finishes at JO's. He was also an assistant to the 17-1's girls team in 2010-11 that won the prestigious Festival tournament in Phoenix, Arizona. From 2006-2010, Kevin worked as one of the top coaches at the University of Arizona Volleyball Camps run by head Coach Dave Rubio. Kevin has also been one of our top coaches at many of Legacy's clinics and camps including our Summer Camps, Boys and Girls Youth Clinics, 3rd-6th Grade Developmental Team, Junior High League, and Beginner/Advanced High School Clinics along with many of the Elite Clinics run by Walt Ker.
